In Loving Memory

Satin

Chestnut Grade Horse
1975?

Satin was a 15.2 hh grade horse mare who came to the Ranch because her owners could no longer care for her. She came to the Ranch underweight and without much muscling, due to aged teeth. On a regimen of "mushed" senior feed and hay cubes (all soaked down to a mash), she regained her much of her weight and strength.

Satin became very close with another "senior citizen" at our barn, a mare named Granny. Unfortunately, due to complications from old age and colic, Satin passed away on January 15, 2007. She is now in a better place on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

In the months since she arrived in our care, to the night she passed away in a board member's arms, Satin knew the comforts of a full belly, a clean stall and the love of the people around her for those last few months. We are glad we could at least give her those gifts before she passed. She will
be missed.
